Rathtrevor Beach is one of the most popular provincial parks in British Columbia. Parksville's Sand Sculpting Competition dates back to 1982. A total of 100 people attended the first event, and it was reviewed as a "great success". Today this event has evolved into a world class Master Class competition. In the last six years Parksville has welcomed over 427,601 visitors to this event. August is Beach festival month in Parksville. Cathedral Grove is situated on the end of Cameron Lake only minutes from Parksville, it is one of the most popular attractions on the trip from Parksville to Tofino on the West Coast if Vancouver Island.
